1 on 1 Coaching in Canterbury:

Personal coaching is extremely beneficial to all cricket players and is the fastest way to improve your game. It will help you become a better cricketer through specific, individually tailored 1on1 sessions with one of the coaches.

Coaches who conduct 1-on-1 sessions are New Zealand Cricket-accredited. Our coaches each have representative and/or international cricket experience, giving them a great understanding of the game. Our coaches will work together with the players to generate a good working relationship.

We can also offer 2 on 1 Coaching so friends can join together with a coach and go through the sessions together.

Booking in dates for specialist coaching sessions is flexible, and we try to suit your needs. We recommend completing 4x 1 hour 1:1 sessions to truly have enough time to work with your chosen coach on the goals you set for yourself.

If you book multiple sessions and are unsatisfied with the coach, you may select another for the remainder of your sessions (subject to availability at your chosen time slot)

1 on 1 sessions are $70 per hour session
2 on 1 sessions are $80 per hour session
3 on 1/ group coaching sessions are $85 per hour session

Coach Mentoring

Private sessions that help players develop the mindset & strategies needed to overcome any challenges they face while on & off the field. We will analyse your technique & prescribe drills to improve your skills. These sessions will be on zoom or in person.

Coach: Tim Gruijters (Founder)

With more than a decade of private coaching experience, Tim brings a wealth of knowledge to players at every level of the game. He has represented the Netherlands at international level and guided the Senior Country team to Hawke Cup success, showcasing his ability to both perform and lead at the highest standard.

Tim’s coaching philosophy is built on clarity, connection, and genuine development — helping players understand their game, grow their confidence, and unlock their potential.Due to family commitments, Tim’s coaching hours are currently limited

Head Coach: Liam Foulkes

With extensive experience across high‑performance, youth, and community cricket, Liam brings a strong developmental focus to players and coaches throughout the Canterbury Country pathway. His coaching career spans roles in New Zealand and Ireland, including coaching the Typhoons in Ireland’s women’s first‑class competition and supporting Ireland’s U19 Women on the international stage.

Now serving as Head of Talent and Coaching at Canterbury Country Cricket, he leads the region’s player pathways and coach development systems, ensuring athletes are supported to grow both on and off the field. His coaching philosophy centres on developing confident people first, then high‑quality cricketers, creating environments where clarity, connection, and genuine improvement drive performance.

Coach: Josh Roche

Josh has been part of Canterbury Country for more than two years. In that time, he has built a reputation as a coach whose clarity and communication are second to none. His real strength lies in his ability to break down concepts and make technical adjustments, allowing players to understand exactly what they need – and why.

Josh has also represented Buller in the Hawke Cup across the last eight seasons, bringing valuable playing experience into every session he delivers.
